Manchmal erfährt man die interessantesten Dinge nur so nebenbei. Steht zwar sicher auch im CBA, aber bisher habe ich mich erfolgreich davor gedrückt, das durchzuarbeiten. So erfuhr ich erst aus der Detroit Free Press, dass NHL-Spieler in den Playoffs kein Geld mehr bekommen, außer den Prämien. Und selbst wenn man das Stanley Cup Finale erreicht, ist es eher eine Nullnummer, wie Mike Commodore zu berichten weiß:
“I don’t think I made a dime after you factor in tickets, with all of the ones I bought going home to Edmonton (against the Oilers) in the finals,” Commodore said. “I reinvested my bonus into the league, that’s what I did.”

But the only checks players get are delivered by opponents. They stop getting paid by the club at the end of the regular season.
“It brings you back to your roots,” Jackets forward Jason Williams said. “You’re playing in a tournament and, if you win it, you get a nice trophy.”
There is a bit more to it, of course.
